Mr. Blakeley has been in healthcare management for over 20 years. His extensive experience includes oversight of outpatient surgery centers, physical therapy clinics, diagnostic and occupational medicine facilities. Growth and development have been the key drivers to success during his career. Building operational teams and systems to support growth initiatives is an area in which he has excelled.
Most recently he was the Chief Operating Officer for Sutter Health’s Surgery Center Division. This unique role allowed him to coordinate services within the health system to provide the most effective and efficient care for patients. During his tenure, the division experienced tremendous expansion, increasing the number of facilities from ten to thirty-seven within a five-year period which included two surgical hospitals in the portfolio. Key highlights were the development of an employment company for all surgery center employees, standardization plan for all operating systems, merger and re-syndications, physician recruitment and relationship enhancement within the system.
Prior to his work with Sutter Health, Shannon was a Senior Vice President for Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA) over the Northwest Territory. Preceding his work at SCA, he served as a Vice President for National Surgical Care, overseeing operations of surgery centers in California and Colorado. Before National Surgical Care, Shannon spent 12 years with HealthSouth as a Marketing Director, Area Manager and ultimately Regional Vice President. Mr. Blakeley is also a past president of the California Ambulatory Surgery Association (CASA), one of the largest state ASC associations in the country.
